“Watercolor Unleashed! PAINT SEDONA” – Zoom Classes @ Scottsdale Artists’ School

Details: Paint Sedona in watercolor. Beautiful and inspiring scarcely defines the soaring cliffs and formations in Arizona “Red Rock Country”. Paint this magnificent subject – your painting vortex awaits! For accomplishing depth in the formations, we’ll study the use of light, airy washes to achieve radiance in the sunlit planes, with rich clean darker values to enhance form and structure.
For my live-online studio-at-home painting classes, photos and other class materials to be used are sent to you by e-mail. (You are also welcome and encouraged to paint from your own reference material whenever you wish.) During class time you will see instruction demos presented full-screen. You will have your own painting time during class and individual critique.
Class time will be structured, yet open enough to accommodate the artistic spirit within us all. All levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. The only prerequisite is an attitude of joy in the act of painting!

“Oil and Watercolor Plein Air Painting Workshop in Spain with Julie Gilbert Pollard”

Join Julie Gilbert Pollard for a wonderful week of plein air painting on the beautiful coast of Northern Spain, the Costa Brava, near Barcelona!
Let Spain seduce you! Costa Brava, where the mountains meet the sea, is the setting of this exciting painting tour in the province of Gerona. Craggy cliffs, sandy coves, pristine beaches but also medieval villages and botanical garden, all await to be painted and experienced. This region was also the home and setting for the surreal world of Salvador Dali. The magical Barcelona will also be part of this unique plein-air painting workshop in Spain.
Class Description: In this plein air workshop, you will visit inspiring locations, learning to interpret them into your personal visual expression. Expect sight-seeing, photo-sketching, sketching and “light” plein air painting using minimal equipment that is easy to carry in a medium-size backpack”.
“During the plein air sessions, I will alternate watercolor-on-paper and watercolor-as-prep-for-oil painting demos on canvas boards pre-coated with Watercolor Ground. I will demonstrate and coach you through methods and techniques that have proven invaluable in learning to distill a scene into its most simple format, leading to studio paintings that retain that illusive “plein air feel”.
All levels are welcome. Classes will be small, so Julie will have ample time to help students work toward individual goals.

“Watercolor Unleashed – Paint Vibrant Water Scenes in Brilliant Color”
San Diego Watercolor Society (SDWS) Workshops are held in our beautiful, light-filled education center in the SDWS Gallery, The ARTS DISTRICT, Liberty Station, 2825 Dewey Road, Bldg #202, San Diego, CA 92106.
Dates/Time: July 12-15, 2021, Monday-Thursday, 9AM-3:30PM.
Note: included is a Demonstration by Julie Gilbert Pollard, Workshop Instructor, on Sunday afternoon, July 11, 2021, of about 75 minutes beginning about 2:00PM. The demo is a part of the SDWS monthly General Meeting, which begins at 1:30PM. Workshop participants are welcome.

“Watercolor Unleashed!” – ONLINE “LIVE” STREAM WORKSHOP
Dates/Times: Aug. 16-18, 2021, 9AM-3PM (PDT), Monday-Wednesday Workshop; includes Online Demo, Sunday, Aug. 15th, 1:30PM (PDT).

Details: THIS IS AN ONLINE “LIVE” STREAM WORKSHOP. Through demos, instruction, one-on-one critique and lots of painting time, students will learn the techniques that will help them to make water look wet and splashy as it cascades over rocks and boulders. We will focus on the “anatomy” of a waterfall, negative painting and the creative use of color. Techniques will be demonstrated to address the various puzzles with which the artist is faced when painting this stunning, fascinating and challenging subject! Additionally, you will learn to use “acrylic underpinnings” to set the stage for vibrant colors in your paintings. he benefits of this method are numerous and is a unique approach to both watercolor and oil that will add considerably to your repertoire of painting techniques. Skill level: Beginners and up are welcome.
