Exploring medieval Italian or Spanish towns, or Native American adobe and cliff dwellings, we are struck by their beauty and artistic appeal. Yet, while I am charmed by them, I feel it's important to remember the hardships people faced in those eras. When painting these scenes I attempt to do so with respect.
