15 Art Barn Road Sedona
“WET & WILD – PLEIN AIR TO STUDIO!” on location with Julie Gilbert Pollard
Dates & Times: Sept. 29, 30th and Oct. 1st, 2022, 10:00AM-5:00PM, Thursday; 9:00AM-4:00PM. ALL 3 DAYS: mornings: ON LOCATION at nearby Oak Creek; afternoons: in SAC Studio.
Details: Learn to paint water that looks wet, reflective and splashy! With stunning Oak Creek as your model, paint water as it splashes around and over the rocky streambed. Techniques will be demonstrated to address the various puzzles with which the artist is faced when painting this stunning, fascinating and challenging subject!
Mornings: At a nearby Oak Creek location, do “light” plein air painting, i.e. sketching, color-sketching, etc., using a minimal set-up, or simply taking photos. Demos will be based on a minimal, portable version of plein air work. Nevertheless, the amount of equipment you take is your choice. There are lists of suggested supplies available for levels of activity at both ends of the spectrum
After Lunch: classroom painting in the SAC studio using material gathered that morning or on a previous day, work on paintings started on location or begin new paintings, as you wish.
All levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. The only prerequisite is an attitude of joy in the act of painting. There will be demos, instruction at all levels as needed, individual critique and lots of painting time. Class time will be structured, yet open enough to accommodate the artistic spirit within us all!
Note: This workshop was very successful in late April 2022. You may get hints of “autumn colors” this weekend! Come paint with us!
